	Danes begin settling along the French coast opposite England.
911	French King signs treary with Rollo.

954	Heir of Alfred the Great forces Danes to leave Danelaw.
978	Ethelred "Unready" became King of England

986	Erik the Red founds colony on Greenland.
1000 AD	Lief Eriksson lands on northeast coast of North America. Named Vinland. (Newfoundland)
